Having completed 20 creative years in the field, Plefsis presents its new performance entitled “Intimate” at Choros Technis 14th Mera. In this production, physical theater, contemporary dance and the visual landscapes coexist on stage along with soundscapes (live electronics) created by Minas Emmanouil.
Drawing inspiration from G. Bachelard' s classic book The Poetics of Space, the two performers, like two grown-up children that play in the sand, create images through interacting and struggling with various materials and objects that surround us in everyday life. Driven by poetic imagination, they materialise on stage the multidimensional relationships between dream and reality. Gradually they come face to face with the perplexities of existence: dream and reality, memory and oblivion, time and decay, life and death.
The performance is defined by the interaction between the two bodies and the soundscapes created live on stage by the musician. An oblong table serves as a path that leads the narrative to a world of symbolisms, a universe built entirely on what dreams are made of. It is on that table that forms and concepts of inconclusive actions are shaped, yet they constitute nothing more than pure thoughts.
Plefsis company treats the audience to a journey through memory and fantasy, centered on the act of playing and the mental associations derived thereof. According to the two performers, «the performance is dedicated to the poetics of the moment, the personal and intimate. We go through life trying to create bonds of companionship out of the loneliness of our existence. Only momentarily do we watch our thoughts become images. In the end, though, they remain thoughts, while reality falls around us like drops of water, leaving its trace behind”.
